Do you enjoy helping others? Do you enjoy connecting with diverse people? Are you looking to donate a small portion of your time to make a world of difference in someone else’s life? If you answered YES to any of these questions, then the IRHC Community Service Committee is the place for you.
The IRHC Community Service Committee is a group that defines itself as students who exude their civic duty to provide service and leadership opportunities for NYU students while creating meaningful relationships with the surrounding New York City community. The Community Service Committee is comprised of NYU residence hall leaders whose goal is to create community service opportunities for NYU’s residential students. The IRHC Community Service Committee provides an opportunity for you to develop your leadership capabilities, and most importantly have fun by giving back to the community.

The Community Service Committee is currently involved in several projects, such as:
Adopt an Organization: This program aims at matching residence halls with local service organizations to foster a positive service relationship that educates residents on local issues.
Relay for Life: Each Spring, NYU students join with the American Cancer Society in the fight against cancer. This overnight fundraising event aims at spreading the awareness of cancer prevention, treatments and cures, celebrate survivorship, and raise money for cancer research.
NY Cares: This organization aims at meeting the pressing community needs by mobilizing caring New Yorkers in volunteer service. IRHC participates in two big days of service, one in the Spring and one in the Fall, in which thousands of volunteers make a positive impact on their communities.
